Very good, my wife and I ordered the Texas fajitas for two. When the plate came to the table I was wondering how we were going to eat it all. Massive portion sizes. Give this place a try if you havent.
This was our first time and will not be our last. -

Short version: I highly recommend this restaurant!
Long version: Back in college (and as of this day), my friends and I would come here pretty often, and most of the time we've had a pleasurable experience. The staff has been nice, the food has been both great and extremely filling, and the margaritas have been good (when I had the room for them!). My personal go-to's are the "Hot and Spicy Burrito", or the combination fajitas. Only reason this gets 4 stars is because - and others have shared this sentiment - sometimes the service is a bit slow, even outside of the typical "rush" hours. But definitely don't let that stop you from going here! -

Disgusting food! No flavor. Poor customer service. Sent my plate back and the waiter laughed it off didn't offer to fix the issue. Didn't refill our cups. Terrible experience, coming from Texas hospitality is the most important thing!

Very good Mexican food for Auburn Al. Everyone was nice and helpful. My boyfriend and I shared the Texas Fajitas for two and it was plentiful (chicken, steak, and shrimp)! I had the Texas margarita and he had the house , both satisfied. We will for sure be back!

Disclaimer: I'll go ahead and just put this out there that I am a Texan who is a complete Mexican food snob. I admit that I typically refuse to eat Mexican food in these parts, because to me, it's just... well... yuck. However, I still get conned into it about once per year for my mom and brother's birthday.
I'll also go ahead and say that am basing this ranking on one thing and one thing alone. This is legit the *only* Mexican restaurant I've come across in Lee County, AL that actually makes table side guacamole- with real avocados- right in front of your face. I know, I know... novel idea, right? Lol.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD- THANK YOU FOR THIS, EL REY. So for this reason alone, I'm giving El Rey four stars. I feel like an ounce of hope has now slightly been restored for the future of Auburn Mexican restaurants. If you want real guacamole, come to this place!
